Suspended 75ft in the air on a burning rope, Singapore illusionists JC Sum and \u201cMagic Babe\u201d Ning attempts their double upside-down strait jacket escape.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

After 2 weekends of nocturnal activities, the Singapore Night Festival 2013 drew to a close with a spectacular performance by local illusionists JC Sum and \u201cMagic Babe\u201d Ning.<\/p>\n

Titled \u201cUltimate Inversion\u201d, the performance had the duo strapped up in 2 strait jackets each, suspended upside down and hauled up 75 ft into the air on a burning rope. The height was originally 50ft, but Ning had apparently decided at the last minute to up the ante by increasing it to 75ft. The performance was witnessed by a 10,000-strong audience spanning the front of the National Museum of Singapore and Singapore Management University Green across the road.<\/p>\n

Before long, Ning managed to free herself from one of her strait jackets, and both managed to free themselves in about 3 minutes. This must have been a relief as there were no safety nets below, which meant that both would plummet 75ft to the ground once the rope burned out.<\/p>\n

For their stunning performance, the duo were presented a record certificate for attempting the world’s first “Double Suspended Upside Down Strait Jacket Escape\u201d by Mr. Ong Beng Huat, president of the Singapore Book of Records. They were also awarded the \u201cOutstanding Achievement and Contribution to Magic\u201d by the president of the International Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM) Ring 115, Mr. John Teo.<\/p>\n
