I made a few more visits to the festival after the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ckphoto.net\/blog\/2012\/05\/singapore-arts-festival-2012-media-preview\">media preview<\/a> so that I can see and photograph the installations which were either not ready then, or we didn&#8217;t have time to cover.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Here are some of the ones which I find to be more interesting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>HYBYCOZO by Yelena Filipchuk &amp; Serge Beaulieu (USA\/Canada)<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/farm1.staticflickr.com\/604\/33168435692_86a1dbbdf9_z_d.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">HYBYCOZO by Yelena Filipchuk &amp; Serge Beaulieu (USA\/Canada) with the Singapore Skyline (and a stormy sky) in the background.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Consisting of intricately carved geometric shapes,\u00a0HYBYCOZO features various themes from ancient Islamic tiles to\u00a0patterns created by particle physicists when modeling the unified field theory. The artwork aims to translate the appearance of beauty within naturally occurring harmonic relationships and patterns in the natural world into sculptural form.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dande-lier by COLOURS<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3719\/33168437812_672bcdbfc6_z_d.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dande-lier by COLOURS x Web Structure x Prof Yuen&#8217;s Research Team (Singapore)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This is an installation made from many white umbrellas,\u00a0individually as a chandelier, and collectively as a dandelion \u2013 hence, \u201cDande-lier\u201d.\u00a0Coloured lights react to the presence and movement of visitors in the installation, slowly changing the colours of the lights projected onto the umbrellas.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/farm1.staticflickr.com\/570\/33168439642_1ec73531eb_z_d.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Underneath the umbrellas of the Dande-lier installation<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ocean Pavilion by Luke Jerram (UK)<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/farm1.staticflickr.com\/670\/33283017156_10c36e9a01_z_d.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">A visitor taking a photo of the Ocean Pavilion installation by Luke Jerram (UK)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Inspired by the natural forms of the microscopic diatoms and radiolarians found in the rivers and seas around Singapore, the Ocean Pavilion is both a space for contemplation and wonder. Made from 25,000 up-cycled Evian bottles with the help of students from 11 schools around Singapore, the artwork promotes reuse and upcycling efforts.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3770\/32746189784_42981fa8e3_z_d.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">A visitor takes a photo of the Ocean Pavilions installation using his smart phone.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/farm1.staticflickr.com\/638\/33283015256_89c653c7cb_z_d.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Evian bottles which make up the installation.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3953\/33283013246_10703b6e98_z_d.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">A look up the bottom of one of the \u201ctowers\u201d.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Northern Lights by\u00a0Aleksandra Stratimirovic (Sweden)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In ths installation, Swedish artist\u00a0Aleksandra Stratimirovic attempts to bring the Northern Lights to Marina Bay by stringing a chain of 100 vertical LED tubes across a small section of the Waterfront Boulevard. Still nothing like experiencing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ckphoto.net\/blog\/2016\/01\/watching-the-aurora-borealis-northern-lights-in-iceland\">the real thing<\/a> though. Also, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ilightmarinabay.sg\/Discover\/Installations\/Northern%20Lights\" target=\"_blank\">official photo<\/a> of the installation appears to be a composite, and is impossible to create in-camera without double-exposure or other compositing techniques.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3673\/33432428572_c918cf4eb4_z_d.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Northern Lights by Aleksandra Stratimirovic (Sweden)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>The Body of the Sea by Danny Rose (France)<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3674\/33432412132_37cb5220d9_z_d.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Body of the Sea by Danny Rose (France)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I wasn&#8217;t able to get close enough to the Merlion during the media preview since we were on a boat, so I revisited the installation again to get a closer shot.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3894\/33432421852_e4f9dbab1c_z_d.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Another view of the Body of the Sea by Danny Rose (France)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Once again, the last day of the i Light Marina Bay 2017 is on 26th March 2017.
